Rooted in tomorrow

Tembec is the world’s largest producer of High-Yield Pulp (HYP), also known as Bleached Chemi-Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (BCTMP). Our Temcell High-Yield Pulp encompasses our approach to sustainability and life-cycle stewardship, and we supply it globally.

Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification & Temcell High-Yield Pulp

Our leadership in manufacturing High-Yield Pulp is part of our Tembec lifecycle stewardship approach that encompasses the very best practices of forest management.

Tembec committed to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in 2001.

We continuously refine how we produce Temcell HYP to bring superior products to market that are cost competitive while reducing our environmental footprint with improved manufacturing practices. Temcell High-Yield Pulp uses fewer trees and chemicals in its production.

We have two HYP production mills - our largest mill in Temiscaming QC, and our mill in Matane QC, strategically situated on the St. Lawrence River with excellent access to world markets. These mills are held to the highest standards for efficiency, low emissions and effluent control, in part due to our anaerobic treatment processes. Thanks to the recent investments at Matane, that mill will significantly reduce its use of fossil fuels.

We invest significantly in research and development so that our two facilities in Temiscaming and Matane incorporate advanced processes and are at the forefront of HYP technical know-how.
